Special Announcement (Senior Pastor Update)
Made by Josh Taylor with the South City C3 Key Team, Board Members and Selection Panel
Sunday, March 2 at 10:30am Service
As you many of you will have been aware, we have been undergoing a recruitment process over the last few months for a new Senior Pastor at South City C3.
This process has involved several key components:
The Board, in partnership with the SC Key Team, formed a selection panel made up of 3 South City representatives, a representative of the Board, and a representative of C3 Pacific.
We opened applications and interviewed 5 shortlisted candidates.
We then narrowed that down to 2 shortlisted candidates.
Following that, we heard those candidates each share a message on a Sunday. Following that, we conducted a survey that heard your feedback on our two candidates.
We conducted additional interviewing exploring those candidate’s theological positions.
We organised a focus night with our two candidates and selected a focus group of around 25 members that represented a cross section of our congregation, which allowed a chance for those 25 to ask questions and then give additional feedback via a survey that they completed at the end of the night.
We have also heavily invested in this process through discussions, meetings, and most importantly, through our prayers.
The decision of who to select as a Senior Pastor for South City is a weighty decision, and I can tell you with confidence that we have given this decision all of the effort and the consideration that it has needed, and you can have confidence that the decision reached has been well-thought through and prayed through, and we have heard you along the way.
With that said, I am pleased to report to you this morning that we are now able to share with you our decision.
We have offered the role of Senior Pastor to Beau Lagatule, and I am happy to report that he has accepted.
We have a new Senior Pastor!
Beau brings with him years of church leadership experience in his previous roles in Melbourne. In addition to this, both Beau and his wife, Katie, have felt a strong sense of calling to South City C3. Their enthusiasm and love for God and His church are evident, and we are confident that under Beau's leadership, South City C3 will continue to grow and thrive in new and exciting ways.
During the selection process, we all felt a strong sense that God is wanting to do something fresh and new in our church. Beau and Katie's arrival marks the beginning of a new chapter for us, and we are excited to see how the Lord will move in and through them.
More importantly, there is unity between the Board, the Selection Panel, and the South City C3 Key Team on this decision, and we are all in agreement that Beau is the right fit for South City C3 at this time.
Beau has resigned from his other employment, and will officially start as Senior Pastor 3 weeks from today, on March 23d.
I will remain as Interim Senior Pastor until that date. Following Beau’s start, I will return to my previous associate pastor contract, and I will remain on staff part time until May in order to support Beau in any way I can as he settles into this new role.
I have been incredibly grateful for your support over the last year that I have been serving as your interim pastor, and I humbly ask you to give your support to Beau. Both he and Katie bring an incredible enthusiasm and heart to this role, and we could not be more excited for how the Lord is going to move in them and through them in the times to come.
On behalf of The Board, the South City Key Team, the Selection Panel, and our staff… We are so grateful for your prayers and your patience over both the recruitment process as well as over the ups and downs of the last year.
It is your support, your stepping up, and your enthusiasm that has made all the difference, and it is precisely those same things that will be indispensable as we launch South City C3 forward into it’s next great chapter together.
Thank you.
